Matter is the foundation for connected things. This industry-unifying standard has a promise of reliable, secure connectivity - a seal of approval that devices will work seamlessly together, today, and tomorrow - guided by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (the Alliance), whose members come together from across industries to transform the future of connectivity. During the last years, the most reputable brands have been joining forces to provide users with greater flexibility in inter-operating their smart home devices via a unifying connectivity standard, and Midea Group is proud to announce that one of its smart home brands - Midea - has become one of the very first to receive the Matter certification for its air conditioner.

“Providing users with greater flexibility through this new Matter standard is a natural progression in Midea’s IoT development. It is crucial that all Midea smart home appliances operate seamlessly in tandem with all other connected devices from fellow global companies and brands – hence, positively impacting its massively expected user growth with a seamless interconnective experience.” says Patrick Serrato, Head of IoT at Midea America Corp. and Alliance Board Member. “Midea U, an innovative U-shaped inverter air conditioner, made its debut at the Matter launch event as the first certified room air conditioner. This product certification marks the beginning of Midea offering more simplified, interoperable, reliable smart home appliances across different segments, including air treatment, refrigeration, laundry, large cooking appliances, kitchen appliances, floor care and more – and not only across our own brands but across all Matter joining brands and industries.”

The Matter Launch Event brought lots of announcements of many brands pledging their support for building a new industry-unifying standard of interoperability in smart home and commercial technology, a foundation and future of the Internet of Things. Midea Group is ranked #245 on the Fortune Global 500 list and offers one of the most comprehensive product portfolios within the home appliance industry including Midea. The world’s number one air treatment brand* is proud to present that the already top-selling Midea U air conditioner will officially integrate Matter support into the MSmartHome App and will be available to consumers in 2023.

Midea also revealed roadmap to have other future products that will support Matter starting in 2024 as new standards are finalized.

As a global leader in the industry, Midea Group aims with the Midea brand for continued growth by developing surprisingly friendly, innovative, convenient, and secured smart home appliances for an exceptional value and enable as many consumers as possible to experience and enjoy the brand’s slogan: ‘make yourself at home’.
