MIDEA TAKES SWIFT ACTION TO PROTECT STAFF, SUPPORT COMMUNITY AMIDST PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS

Letter from Paul Fang, CEO Midea Group to all employees

Posted: 09.02.2020

Dear Midea colleagues,

Over the last two weeks, I have received many questions from around the world about how our company is working to protect the health and safety of our people and contribute to the anti-epidemic battle in China.

The single biggest priority for me and for my management team is to safeguard the health of all Mideans. That is why we acted quickly to implement a series of measures, including the supply of masks for staff during work, the suspension of domestic and overseas business trips, optimizing commuting arrangements to and from work and safer meal ordering protocols. These and other measures will continue to be adjusted as the situation continues to evolve.

Rest assured, we will take all necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of all Midea staff.

As a company with major operations in China and around the world, we have a responsibility to contribute to the fight against this epidemic. I am extremely proud of the efforts that this company has already made and the fact that we were one of the first to respond. We donated thousands of appliances to Huoshenshan Hospital and have donated 100 million yuan to contribute towards the relief efforts.

But what makes me most proud is the way in which Mideans have responded to this epidemic, and the spirit they have shown during these most challenging times. Staff from around the world have been working to find epidemic prevention materials and many of our colleagues gave up their holidays and worked overtime to support the battle.

Some have even volunteered to support efforts on the front-line in Hubei. The spirit and generosity of Mideans is on full display right now and we should all be incredibly proud.

There is no doubt that these are challenging times, but I want to assure all of you, that in-spite of these challenges, there will be no staff lay offs and no reductions in salary this year. We are committed to long term strategic deployment, resource investment and team building.

While this epidemic outbreak is testing all of us, I am more confident than ever that we will emerge stronger, more resilient and better equipped for the future. I want to thank all of you for the perseverance and strength that you have shown and look forward to providing you with more updates soon.

In the meantime, please take care of yourselves and each other.

Sincerely,

Paul
