MIDEA REVEALS ONE OF THE WORLD’S FIRST MATTER CONNECTED FANS

Posted: 20.03.2023

Matter is the foundation for connected things. This industry-unifying standard has a promise of reliable, secure connectivity - a seal of approval that devices will work seamlessly together, today, and tomorrow - guided by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (the Alliance), whose members come together from across industries to transform the future of connectivity.

In recent years, the most reputable brands have joined forces to provide users with greater interoperability with their smart home devices via a unifying connectivity standard. One of Midea Group’s smart home brands – Midea – had already taken the lead in developing Matter certified products when it announced that Midea U had become one of the first air conditioners to receive Matter certification at the Global Matter Launch Event in November 2022. Building on that progress, Midea is proud to showcase one of the first Matter connected fans at the Alliance Member Meeting in Seoul from March 20th to 23rd.

With Matter connectivity, users will be able to use the Midea 2-in-1 fan purifier to create smart automations with smart devices not only from Midea but from other brands too. For example, users will be able to set the fan purifier to turn on and their air conditioner to turn off when the temperature drops below 26° C. It does not matter what brand the air conditioner is, as long as both smart devices support Matter connectivity.

“Providing users with greater flexibility through this new Matter standard is a natural progression in Midea’s IoT development. It is crucial that all Midea smart home appliances operate seamlessly in tandem with all other connected devices from fellow global companies and brands – hence, positively impacting its massively expected user growth with a seamless interconnectivity experience.” says Patrick Serrato, Head of IoT at Midea America Corp. and Alliance Board Member.

More and more brands are pledging their support for building a new industry-unifying standard of interoperability in smart home and commercial technology, a foundation and future of the Internet of Things. Midea Group is ranked #245 on the Fortune Global 500 list and offers one of the most comprehensive product portfolios within the home appliance industry including Midea. The Midea 2-in-1 fan purifier will be just the latest Midea smart home product to offer Matter connectivity and will be available to consumers later in 2023.

As a global leader in the industry, Midea Group aims with the Midea brand for continued growth by developing surprisingly friendly, innovative, convenient, and secured smart home appliances for an exceptional value and enable as many consumers as possible to experience and enjoy the brand’s slogan: ‘make yourself at home’.
