MILESTONES
1968
Mr. He Xiangjian led a group of 23 Beijiao residents to start the business with only CNY 5,000.
1980
Seizing the opportunities created by the Reform and Opening-up Policy, Midea started to make electric fans and thus had entered the home appliances industry.
1981
The company registered the "Midea" trademark, which marked the birth of the Midea brand.
1985
Midea entered the AC industry, establishing the exploration of new product categories in home appliances industry.
1988
Midea was approved by the State Council as a "Electrical Products Export Base" and became the first company in Guangdong to be granted the rights of self-managed import and export. In the same year, Midea sales exceed CNY 1,000 million.
1990
Midea invested more than CNY 100 million to build the first high-end industrial park.
1992
Midea went through shareholding reform and it was listed on Shenzhen Stock Exchange in the next year, becoming the first listed township company in China with a modern management system.
1997
Midea started to implement the Product Division System which laid the foundation for today's organizational and management structure.
1998
Midea's global revenue exceeded CNY 5 billion. In the same year, Midea established the Wuhu manufacturing base, the first outside Guangdong Province.
2000
Midea held the Millennium Ceremony to mark the start of a new era. In the same year, the sales revenue of Midea exceeded CNY 10 billion.
2004
Midea further diversified its product portfolio by carrying out a series of mergers and acquisitions. It expanded its business to refrigerator, washing machine and other white goods.
2007
Midea built its first overseas manufacturing base in Vietnam.
2010
Midea's sales revenue exceeded CNY 100 billion. In the same year, Midea's new headquarters building went into operation.
2011
Midea carried out a new round of reform and transformation and achieved solid results.
2012
He Xiangjian, the founder of Midea, resigned from the Board, and Paul Fang was named as the new Chairman.
2013
Midea Group became the first company in mainland China that successfully privatized the listed company and the group went public.
2016
Midea acquired 80.1 % equity of Toshiba Lifestyle Products & Services Corporation and acquired 80% equity of Clivet.
2017
Midea acquired 94.55% equity of KUKA and 79.37% equity of SERVOTRONIX, officially entering the robotics and automation industry.
2018
The year marks Midea's 50th anniversary. Together with 1800 new employees, we will create a better future.
2020
Midea has entered the Fortune Global 500 for 5 consecutive years from 2016 to 2020.
